Our market has been in existence since April 1997 and we strive for continual improvement as the market changes from season to season each year. The Hillcrest Farmers Market encourages all interested shoppers and supporters to become market volunteers and learn all the great behind the scenes action that goes on each week.

These are just a sample of the questions that volunteers and staff answer at the Information Booth every Sunday. In addition to staffing the Information Booth, volunteers will assist with a number of different events and activities for market patrons each month. From pairing with member businesses in Hillcrest who host seasonal or holiday themed events, to featuring restaurants who partner with us for a market inspired Visiting Chef Series- an extra set of hands to help with set up and break down to meet the needs of special events is always appreciated. If you want to learn about the inner workings of our market, hang outdoors, and meet different types of people all while supporting your local farmers market, this is the position for you.
Skills required: Excellent customer service skills, positive attitude, the ability to be kind and courteous to diverse groups of people, a great smile, and the ability to remember a lot of information about the market, as well as the ability to do basic math. Info Booth volunteers are also responsible for booth set up and break down, as well as the sale of market merchandise. Written guidelines and weekly updates will be provided. For special events it is necessary to lift up to 50lbs at a time with relative ease; typically a 6-foot folding table, metal folding chairs, PA system, etc.
Time commitment: Up to 6 hours on Sundays from 8:30am until 2:30pm, and at least 10 markets per year are required.
Perks: Upon becoming a market volunteer you will receive an exclusive volunteer T shirt. Volunteers will also receive $60 market bucks per shift, redeemable at any Hillcrest Farmers Market vendor.
As the Hillcrest Farmers Market grows and changes over the course of 2017 more volunteer opportunities will become available.
