• End of the Summer Vegetables and Recipe Ideas


    Remember when summer was just beginning? We were excited about stone fruits, tomatoes, and berries. We looked forward to the Fourth of July, the longer days, and wearing flip flops. I’d say we all had our fill- especially thanks to the farmers market. We saw the vendors bring out new produce every week… we even put up with the mid day heat to take advantage of it! Though we know this will come to the end eventually, and we will soon be in scarves and boots while shopping the market, there are some end of the summer fruits and vegetables that are definitely worth a mention. Here’s what’s in season now- and some recipes from the web to spark some culinary inspiration…

    I am especially into the figs right now. I just cannot get enough! I read recently that figs are inverted flowers. How beautiful is that? I think just knowing that makes them even more appealing! Just another reminder of food’s natural beauty. I feel so lucky to have the Hillcrest Market to bring this beauty conveniently to us every Sunday!

    I intend to get the most of this summer’s produce… I hope you do too!
