San Diego’s ORIGINAL and largest farmers market
The Hillcrest Farmers Market is filled with over 175 vendors offering a wide variety of locally grow produce, gifts, arts and crafts, flowers, clothing, and more! Over 10,000 people a week visit our market. Many of our local farmers grow their produce organically or with no pesticides. The market also hosts a large variety of prepared and hot food items with an emphasis on international cuisine. We also host weekly entertainment performed by a variety of local musicians.
The market opened on April 13, 1997 with only 27 vendors and has continued to grow with the community. We are proud to and maintain our reputation as “The Best” Farmers Market in San Diego County!

Frequent shopper punch card program.
Shop at the Market and win! If you shop at the market each week, it’s east to win a huge gift basket of goodies from our vendors! Next time you're at the market visit the Information Booth and pick up a punch card. Whenever you shop at the market, get a punch in your card (double punches for rainy days), and submit your completed cards to win. Every quarter we draw a winner! Don't worry if you don't get all your punches this quarter, your card can be submitted next quarter too.
Drawings will occur on the last day of the Quarter (March, June, September, & December). Winners will be announced on social media and emailed directly.
Rules: Cards not drawn are not included in the subsequent quarter. One stamp card per person. If you complete the card before the drawing, you may start a second card. If you don’t complete the card before the drawing, you can use the card toward the next quarter. Cards must be fully completed to win. Multiple cards may be combined to complete one card. Stamps on lost cards will not be replaced.

Market “Bucks” Gift certificates, T shirts, grocery bags, and lots of other goodies are available in the Fabulous Hillcrest online store!
Market Bucks are available in a variety of denominations.
The Hillcrest Farmers Market gift certificates are called Market Bucks. They’re available in denominations of $5 and $10 and celebrate two of Hillcrest’s pioneering activists~ State Senator Christine Kehoe and Founding Executive Director of the Market Warren Simon. The Market Bucks are available at the Information Booth or at the online store. They can be redeemed at any vendor. No change is given for market bucks.

Getting to the market
Visiting the Hillcrest Farmers Market is easy. The Hillcrest Farmers Market is located on Normal Street between University Ave. and Lincoln Ave.
Parking:
Parking is free on the streets on Sunday in Hillcrest. You can park free at the California DMV property at Normal St. and Lincoln Ave. or for free at the San Diego Unified School District facility at Campus Ave. and Washington St. You can also park at the USPO parking lot on Cleveland St.
Bus:
There are a number of busses that pass right by the market. This includes the 1, 7, 10, 11, and 215 routes.
Good things to know:
We love your pooch, but our under the provisions of the California Health and Safety Code, “customers shall not bring any live animals into any food facility”. We ask that you not bring your dog or other pets to the Hillcrest Farmers Market. Of course, we make all sorts of exceptions if you bring a guide dog, signal dog, service dog, emotional support animal, or one (or two) of those really cute little dogs in a carrier.
Our market is open during the hottest times of the day. If it’s hot, please leave Fido at home.
There are recycling and food waste receptacles throughout the market. Please contribute to a healthy world by recycling at the market.
